Answered Prayer

Some time last week, I was asked by my father to water the newly-planted duhat (indian blackberry) located a few steps from our backyard.  Just when I was about to pour the water using an aluminum pitcher, I heard a honking sound nearby.

Armed with an outdated 2.1 eclair android phone, I took a picture of the noisy waterfowls.  The honking didn't stop....and I assumed the geese was startled to see a caveman holding a pitcher and an outdated 2.1 eclair android phone.  It's a disturbing sight for the geese I thought.  As I turn and walk away, the honking continued.  I simply put the aluminum pitcher on top of a shaky washing machine and went back to my cave.  I turned on my jurassic laptop which took the usual 3-minute boot-up time.....waited.....plugged in the router....double-clicked Firefox and sat.

Who would've thought that the honking geese could have something to do with what I am about to see online.  Perhaps it's a sign.  After years of waiting, my prayer has finally been answered....the Master grade Tallgeese is now officially announced by Bandai, which will be available January next year.

The more slender shape of the upper torso and the smaller shoulder armor will surely help shoulder movement, but I'm not quite sure about the additional armors for the Tallgeese III....still hoping that it won't affect posability. The fatter thighs are just right for me.  I think it's one of the Tallgeese's trademark aside from the mohawk head and the two thruster pods on its back.  The smaller feet will also look better for aerial poses.  The dobergun looks a lot better, and the shoulder attachment doesn't seem to differ much from the high grade.

One complaint though, I find the the shape of the upper thruster pods too pointy....unlike its HG counterpart.  Maybe there's a good reason behind its pointy design....maybe Bandai want it to make look more aerodynamic....I guess.

I always tell myself not to be redundant when it comes to purchasing stuff...always be happy with what you currently have....that's why I'll be keeping my 1/100 HG kit and wait more months for the MG Tallgeese III to come out. It will be my master grade after two years of MG abstinence.  Now is the right time to start filling my piggy bank again...because my most favorite non-gundam mecha deserves to be in my collection.

Monkey Reflex

There's one thing that comes in my mind when I see horses roaming around in our backyard: free buko juice. Lacking the monkey reflex to climb a coconut tree, buko juice isn't something that I can enjoy on times when I wanted one (despite few coconut trees planted around the jungle). I just look up thirsty and drooling....and it ends there.

Coconut harvesters still use horses nowadays. Few basketful of coconuts are worth about a few cigarette packs....father is always the beneficiary.^^

I think having a pet horse is a good thing. Horses eat weeds...weeds grow and needs to be mowed...mower needs gasoline to function.

The local term for coconut with hard meat (the one that usually hard to scrape from the shell) is called "magulang". The term "mura" is the one I prefer to eat with the juice. It has soft meat (mala-uhog) and can be easily scrape off from the shell.

Dividing these into halves isn't as easy as swiping your thumb on a smartphone. There's no such thing as Fruit Ninja in real life....only spies.

"♪If you eat too much you'll get very....very♫.............I forgot the lyrics.

1/100 HG Gundam Sandrock Custom

After a few weeks' "hiatus" (ok...I swallowed my pride this time) I have finally finished my Sandrock.

I based the look of the Sandrock on the manual of 1/144 Sandrock custom. In my opinion, it is much better than the one pictured on 1/100's manual.

Just love those huge....curvy............heat shortels. I borrowed my father's slightly used Pylox silver spray can for the shortels.

I didn't able to make Quatre's eyes right...he looks like Sailormoon in a new hair-do.

Since this isn't a master grade, I did not bother coming up with dynamic poses. Aerial poses isn't Sandrock's strong point either.

Instead of having a plain gray cloak, I decided to add a little brownish tone to it. I used the remaining gray and brown poster colors on the palette...soaked the whole cape in it (i used the spray can's cap to mix the poster colors) then waited for it to dry. I used a pair of scissors to add tear at the bottom edges of the cape.

I was tempted to use ballpen caps for the thrusters (something I learned from gmtristan.com link here: http://gmtristan.com/china-blitz-gundam-1100/) but I'm not particularly good at modding. I thought I will only mess things up if I only super glued the caps in place, so I decided to just spray it Pylox silver.

Mood Shift

For Rovin, overcoming life's hardships is like preparing chicken noodle soup.....it should be done in an instant.Mood Shift

1/100 HG Gundam Sandrock Custom: WIP part 2

I'll resist myself from using the word "hiatus" for this post...because there's no pride using a word you just recently learned from google. I'm just being honest.^^

There's a saying that once you started something, you must finish it (even if you're an exhausted Wipeout contestant). Seems like the acronym WIP for me is "work-in-pahinga" instead of work in progress. It took me a month to acquire diligence again...as these hindrances to my gunpla-building are pulling the interest and nerdiness out of me...convincing me that there's life aside from gunpla.

Aside from almost two weeks of continuous rain...and two days of enduring stomach ache (curse those red salted eggs!)....these turn-based Japanese rpg's kept me from doing any gunpla-related stuff.

Finished Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis on my phone's GBA emulator

I made Rovin the main protagonist of the game.^^

Finished the game in 34 hours and 50 mins.

Also finished Final Fantasy Tactics Advance...205 out of 300 missions completed

The real culprit here is the continuous rain. The air is too humid to paint. No matter how many hours I've waited for it to dry...still few painted parts have moist...still thankful that our cave didn't experience heavy floods like what the capital region experienced.

Just like what I did with my heavyarms last decade...I mean last year, mixing colors is done by eye. No ratio whatsoever because I hate measuring. I mixed blue, white and purple poster colors for the sandrock's color scheme.

ugly painting error on the waist

Different shades of gray...the lighter shade is for the front skirts and shoulder armor, the darker shade is for the two heat shortels, knee and elbow joints.

1/100 HG Gundam Sandrock Custom: WIP part 1

I developed fear watching Manny Pacquiao's fight...because the last time I watched, he lost.

Yesterday was Bradley vs Pacquiao fight so I started doing the sandrock yesterday morning just to divert my attention and not to be tempted on taking a peek at the television (I'm doing Pacquiao a favor here^^). In the picture, I was currently in the most boring part: the sanding and masking part.

1/20 Quatre's figure ready for painting...only masked the hands and face. The American dubbed Gundam wing pronounces his name "Katrah"...but the tagalized version I used to watch when I was young pronounced his name "Kwatreh".

Only few parts were sanded and masked and ready for spray painting. It was lunch time and I got hungry...ginisang munggo and pork chop on the table. Unfortunately, our dining area also serves as entertainment room (slash Rovin's dancing area), so it is expected for everyone in the family to be there and wait for the fight to start. I had a bad feeling Pacquiao's going to loose because I'm there watching. I thought of closing my eyes and wear headset while eating but I realized I will only find discomfort doing it. (sorry for how my brain works)

From the way I saw it, I thought the fight should be draw. I'll be needing a stronger will to resist watching the rematch soon....because I want Manny to win.

Better than Chicken Dance

It would be an awkward moment for me to be seen dancing by someone else, that's why dancing is no fun for me. Up to now, I don't understand those nocturnal party-goers why they consider dancing during nighttime fun (maybe the lights and drinks have something to do with it). I prefer (what others think what losers consider fun) playing TMNT on my phone's gba emulator....well that's fun....for me at least.

In Rovin's case, dancing is his way of expressing himself...whatever music he may come across with....and he does it effortlessly.^^

Looks like he's wearing a tapioca pearl (sago) shades.

Even though I hate dancing, that doesn't mean the music meant for it will be hard for me to appreciate. Don't get me wrong, during college, I used to listen to Daft Punk and Chemical Brothers. It's just that I'm getting sick with pop songs lately and needed something new that will keep my ear entertained no matter what others think of me having a bad taste in music. (naks!) This guy named Calvin Harris is the one responsible for my sophisticated head banging lately. I didn't know if he's really that famous in the western civilization but his collaboration with Rihanna's We Found Love is what made him to be recognized by a caveman (I'm pertaining to myself just to make things clear)...and he sings too ala Depeche Mode and The Human League. I'm currently hooked with the song's instrumental version also with Let's Go featuring Ne-yo...thanks to him I realized that club music isn't that bad.

Three DJ's doing one track will make an overload of good sound. Unintentional nodding is what you will get if you play Swedish House Mafia's Greyhound with high quality headphones. (nodding is not considered dancing...technically.)

"You shoot me down but I won't fall...I am Titanium!"

If I download an album, I consider it free and not unpaid.^^ No bragging rights for me...but at least I'm doing something to promote the album.

David Guetta's Titanium really is meant for people with low self-esteem...a song meant for me I guess. Few of my favorite tracks from the album are entitled Sunshine and the Little Bad Girl instrumental edit (both from the 2nd CD)...really nice.

That's all about it....another reason for me to do the repetitive nodding....and another reason for others to mock what I have just posted here. ugh!
